Adoption of Orchard Ridge Elementary School - Program Information

Education

The first educational pilot project is the "adoption” of Orchard Ridge Elementary (ORE) School.

After assessing the primary issues and unmet needs concerning student achievement, the 100, AACCC, the ORE School Principal and Central Office MMSD administration (including the Superintendent) have determined a number of vital activities in which the 100 and AACCC could play a vital role.

Too much is at stake for the adoption of Orchard Ridge Elementary to be viewed as a “feel good” project. The student population of ORE involves 56% students of color, and fifty five percent (55%) of its student enrollment is from low-income homes. Approximately two thirds of that population cannot read.

Involvement in this project is not an option, but an obligation. We can and must turn this around. Also note, unlike many volunteer efforts, measurement before and after engagement will occur.

This project has been designed to address issues that are impairing the school from achieving optimal performance and results for our children. Please strongly consider serving as a volunteer resource and solution.
